The reporters who alleged former President Joe Biden instructed Kamala Harris not to distance herself from his positions have stood by their reporting despite CNN’s Ana Navarro calling it wrong.

Months after Harris’s loss to Donald Trump in the 2024 election, reporters Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes released an excerpt from their book “FIGHT: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House.” In it, the reporters revealed that once Biden dropped out of the race and Harris took his place, he allegedly told her there was to be “no daylight” between their policy positions. They added that Biden expected Harris to “protect his legacy” since he was “no longer able to defend his own record.”

On a recent episode of CNN NewsNight, Scott Jennings cited that report during a heated debate about Biden’s appearance on The View. Navarro challenged that point, asking Jennings, “Because reporting can never be wrong?” In response, Jennings asked Navarro if she was “attacking the journalism around it.”

“You think reporting can never be wrong?” Navarro fired back.

“If you wanna be anti-journalism, I’ll be pro-journalism!” Jennings said.

Jennings then took to social media to call on Allen and Parnes to weigh in.

“You’ve been called liars here on the ‘no daylight kid’ moment, “Jennings tweeted. “But my bet is you’ve got it right and Joe Biden can’t remember what he had for breakfast yesterday.”

Hours later, Allen responded that he and Parnes stood by their reporting. He also pointed out that it was “deeply sourced.” Parnes retweeted the post and also added, “We stand by our reporting.”
