Fox News host Mark Levin ripped Steve Witkoff, President Donald Trump’s Ambassador at Large and Special Envoy to the Middle East, on Friday afternoon over comments he made to Breitbart’s Matt Boyle attacking the “neocon element” in the GOP.

In a clip shared by Trump’s official rapid response team on X, Witkoff tells Boyle, “The Neocon element believes that war is the only way to solve things. The president believes that his force of personality, the way he is going to respond to certain situations, can bend people to do things in a better way in the interests of the United States government. I believe in that too.”

Levin, a staunch foreign policy hawk, replied to the post, “lol. The envoy talks like the fifth column isolationists. Nobody believes war is the only way. We wait with great interest to see the deal you’re negotiating with the warmonger Iranian terrorist regime.”

“In the meantime, rather than sloganeering against patriotic Americans who love our country, use your name-calling for the terrorist regime that has murdered Americans, tried to assassinate our president, chants death to America, and has lied its way toward a nuclear bomb,” added Levin, who has been a longtime advocate for the U.S. taking a hardline approach to Iran.

In a later post, Levin wrote, “By the way, neocon is a prerogative for Jew. Unbelievable.” Levin apparently meant to say “neocon” is a “pejorative for Jew” – suggesting that Witkoff, who is also Jewish, was engaging in some self-slander.

In Boyles’ write-up of his interview with Witkoff, he wrote, “Another criticism that Witkoff has faced from some dark neocon corners is that he should not be meeting with people like Putin alone. Notably, Witkoff met with Putin without a cadre of aides joining him—and some globalist types argued that he should not be doing that.” Globalist, too, has long been a dog whistle used by some to refer to Jews. Witkoff, a billionaire real estate developer, had no previous experience in foreign policy before Trump tapped him for his current role, in which he has been handling negotiations between Israel and Hamas, as well as with Iran and Russia.

Levin, who Trump named to the Homeland Security Department’s advisory board, attacking Witkoff is yet another example of the growing divide in the GOP between the more isolationist, anti-interventionist wing of the party – led largely by the likes of Vice President JD Vance – and the more classic, hawkish GOP position on foreign policy.
